This Prairie Style home, built in 1914, was designed by the locally revered firm Claude and Starck for a prominent family. Its interior features extensive moldings and geometric motifs. Over the years, the home has had many residents, including Sunday school classes when the home served as a parsonage.
The existing kitchen (which replaced the original kitchen in the 1950s), was functionally inadequate. The main bath and powder bath had also been remodeled over time, but they were not done in a style consistent with the house. The home also lacked a primary suite suitable for our clients. Our challenge was to create new spaces for a lifestyle of this century, while maintaining the integrity of this venerable home designed in the last century.
When our clients were considering purchasing this home they knew they would need to change the rear addition that the previous owner had undertaken before they would be happy with the home. The new addition provided attached parking and a new driveway entry with safer access.
