Residential Project Designer With Award Winning Firm

Architectural Building Arts, Inc. is interviewing for our next Project Designer. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience as a professional Designer. A background in remodeling is essential for your success with us. This position requires a creative and unique individual who is self motivated, dependable, an effective communicator, and efficient with time management. As a Project Designer you will work with sales and production to create enriching spaces that bring lasting value to our clients’ lives.

Job Requirements:

  • 4 years academic training in residential Design/Architecture
  • 10 years work experience in our industry with emphasis on harmonized integration of existing & new
  • Knowledge of remodeling structural issues and a comfortable ability to interact professionally with Engineers & Architects we contract with
  • Knowledge of current building and zoning codes
  • Proficient design, drafting, & concept rendering skills
  • Possess competent computer skills in the following areas:
  • Chief Architect or CAD related software
  • Apple OS w/ networking
  • Apple Office Suite and Daylite would be helpful
  • Knowledge and experience with Builder Trend is a plus
  • Possess strong ‘high-end’ Client relations, sales, & negotiating abilities
  • Interest & desire to work within the Design-Build framework
  • Ability to work well in a team design situation as well as on your own
  • Experience presenting and meeting in a virtual environment

Success Criteria:

  • Attend and actively participate in preliminary Design-Build sales calls.
  • Work with sales to define scope & set construction budgets for Design-Build agreements
  • Develop a project design schedule with Sales & Estimating that will work for our Client and be willing to present this along with the design agreement
  • Develop, organize, produce, & present the entire design system from programming budget & scope to final construction drawings
  • Work with Sales & Estimating to maintain clear Client feed back as to price implications as design progresses to finished plans
  • Produce buildable permit ready plans within the agreed upon production & estimating schedule
  • Define selections as needed by Sales & Estimating for pricing & production handoff
  • Maintain clear & concise notes on all Client meetings & phone calls, keep them up to date in Client data base or job file
  • Work with Sales & Estimating to complete preliminary estimate, final contract estimate, and production field package
  • Work directly with Clients to facilitate timely decisions on all selections & necessary finishes, record and pass information to the appropriate person for ordering
  • Be available to respond promptly to any issues that need design input during production
  • Maintain a strong supportive stance with Client & Project Manager during entire design-build process
  • Develop a lead generating base through your personal & professional connections
  • Help maintain & update the sales/design selection & choices library
  • Be ready to help in other areas of the firm when company is not actively contracted for design/build or as time allows

Compensation:
The starting pay for this position will be based on the individual’s experience. We pay a competitive salary and benefits.
