Melinda Monroe

Melinda Monroe - President

Melinda joined Architectural Building Arts in 1995 with a background in sales and marketing, and since that time has played an instrumental role in forming the company culture we have today.

To Melinda, there are two seasons: football, and gardening. And when the two overlap on a crisp fall Saturday (think farmers market before a Badger game) she is in her own personal heaven. There are only two things that Melinda would love more: being surrounded by her wonderful family, and finding the ultimate chocolate!

Aaron Monroe

Aaron Monroe - Vice President

Aaron started his career with ABA as a carpenter in1999. He went on to further his education by receiving a Business Management degree at UW La Crosse. He has over 8 years of experience in Estimating, building on 17 years experience in production, and is an active leader and owner at ABA. His focus is finding solutions and moving forward in a clear direction. His true passion is creating beauty.

Janet Kjelland - Administrative Assistant

Janet has been the voice of ABA since 1999. And, in addition to cheerfully greeting our incoming calls and visitors, Janet supports the office and field personnel as well as our marketing ventures.

Those of us who know her well know her true love… movies. Be sure to test her trivia knowledge on movies past & present next time you talk to her! Known by many as “Aunt Janet”, she adores all of her cherished nieces, nephews and extended family.

Bridget Ninmann

Bridget Ninmann - Project Designer

Bridget joined Architectural Building Arts in 2010 with a degree in Interior Design from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a project designer, she works closely with our clients to develop design solutions to meet their individual needs, desires and design aesthetics. On top of her design work Bridget also manages Architectural Building Arts’ marketing efforts.

Outside of ABA Bridget enjoys working on her own home with her husband, Joel, traveling and spending time with family and friends. As a loyal Badger fan she can be found at Camp Randall stadium most Saturdays in the fall. She also volunteers her time to the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority facility board on campus.

Mike Kehl - Production Manager

Mike Kehl became a member of the ABA team in June as our Production Manager. Being in the business, including home inspection for over 35 years, Mike brings a wealth of experience to ABA. He has a very technical & methodical approach to remodeling and home improvement projects.

"My colleagues here at ABA share their talents in a way that helps the entire team and can flow to where the needs are to better solve the concerns of running a full service construction company. My job is very rewarding in that I share in this pool of committed people and have the unique opportunity to see our work from the first stages through completion."

Ken Hahn

Ken Hahn, CLC - Finish Manager

Ken has been with Architectural Building Arts since 1995, and has brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Project Manager position.

Outside of ABA he, his wife Dawn and their two daughters enjoy museums, and all the outdoor activities you can name including gardening and landscaping. Next time you see Ken ask him about your interesting and unusual plants as he also has a degree in horticulture.

Mike Elsner

Mike Elsner - Project Manager

Mike has been in the construction business for 20+ years, both remodeling and building new homes. He and his wife Suzanne have been married for 20 years and have four children.

Mike loves doing anything outdoors including hunting, fishing and coaching his kids’ athletic teams.

Casey Mapes

Casey Mapes, CLC - Project Manager

Casey comes to ABA having been working in the construction field for several years. In 2009 he graduated with a B.S. degree in Construction prior to joining the ABA team. In addition to Casey's passion for carpentry is his love of the outdoors. He spends much of his free time hunting, fishing and in general just being active!

Doug Statz

Doug Statz - Project Manager

Doug brings over 30 years of experience in the construction trade, ranging from design through final building project.

He and his wife of 17 years, Victoria, are kept very busy with their 3 children’s school and sports activities and on top of that, Doug has been on the Dane Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years. In his downtime, Doug enjoys hunting and is a Badger & Packer fan!

Eric Olson

Eric Olson - Estimator

Eric became a member of the Architectural Building Arts team in August 2015 as our estimator. He started in residential construction 20 years ago with a summer job as a finish carpenter. He then went on to work as a finish carpenter, rough framer, construction manager & project manager. Eric started his own business as a residential remodeling general contractor in 2006. He also earned a degree from UW-Platteville in Public Relations & Marketing in 2002.

Eric loves spending quality time with his wife & 3 kids and close friends and when asked what he likes to do in his leisure time he said “fishing, hunting, boating, and reading a good book on a beach with a mojito and my toes in the sand."

"I have worked with ABA as a subcontractor for several years and was well aware of their excellent craftsmanship, proficient project organization, and dedication to having a solid, positive relationship with everyone involved in their projects. When the opportunity arose to join their team as an estimator, it was an easy decision to come aboard. I am looking forward to working with everyone here at ABA and having a role in their continued success."

DeAnn Christiansen - Financial Manager

Welcome back to DeAnn who worked for Architectural Building Arts years ago, and recently returned as our Finance Manager. To say DeAnn is a busy woman is an understatement! She and her husband Cade are a big part of their three kids’ activities (soccer, gymnastics, piano to name a few); and for herself she loves road biking, camping, Badger & Packer football and Door County! If you ask DeAnn about her bucket list, visiting the National Parks to hike would be at the top.

"ABA is an amazing place where dreams are endless for clients and any transformation is possible. I came back to work at ABA again after 10 years because of the co-workers and work environment. Melinda and crew are awesome people who genuinely care about and treat all as family; employees and clients."

Tessa Monroe - Office Assistant

Tessa came onboard with ABA as office assistant while she attends Madison College in the Liberal Arts Transfer program. She aspires to become a Kindergarten teacher, and hopefully become a Badger! Tessa enjoys reading a good book (especially any Harry Potter book!) as well as loves baking and trying new complicated recipes with her sister Rachel.

"I've only been part of ABA for a short time, but in that time I've seen people everyday, doing what they love to do. Everyone loves making clients feel great about their homes and any other project, big or small. The creativity is contagious and awesome to be around!"

Sarah King - Support I Carpenter

Sarah King just joined ABA as a Support I Carpenter. She graduated from the Construction Remodeling Program at Madison College in 2013 and from the Cabinetry and Millwork Program in 2015. Sarah has worked in the field since her graduation in 2013. Outside of the construction field, Sarah loves being with her family and friends as much as possible and enjoys playing volleyball and swimming.

Brandon Vine - Support II Carpenter

Joined the ABA team in March of this year. He began his training in Residential and Commercial Carpentry during the summer of 2003 as a Finish Carpenter, and eventually cross-trained as a Framing Carpenter the following year. Madison has become his residence and is a wonderful place to work and continue contributing toward improving for anyone wanting truly unique homes, through ABA.

The first morning, I was immediately introduced to the scope of the project by the Production Manager who chose to invest into taking the time to walk me through what had already happened prior to my arrival, what was planned in upcoming weeks and what needed to take place within the next few days. That introduction alone separated ABA from every other company I had experienced working with all the way back to my initial apprenticeship in 2003, which established the standard I know today and bring to ABA. Andrew Monroe - Pricing Assistant

Joined ABA again as Pricing Assistant. He has been a great asset in the office assisting our estimator, and creating project agreement write ups. Andrew is proficient with technology and computers, though often he’d prefer to be camping or at the family cabin in northern Wisconsin.
